Climate Change and Health Education
Climate change affects human activities and natural environments now and particularly in the future. It has different types of impacts on physical and mental health, but a healthy lifestyle can help to combat climate change. Health education class is an excellent place to discuss factors contributing to happiness and quality of life in the future low-carbon world. Therefore, health education plays an important role in learning to understand climate change in-depth and building a climate-friendly world.

Suffering from Climate Change Distress

Caelie_Frampton
Climate change is the most serious, complex threat humankind has ever faced. Despite the many existing technological solutions, various psychological factors prevent us from acting against climate change. Although many know what action we should take to tackle climate change, anxiety can cause us to bury our heads in the sand. Self-knowledge can help to understand responses, including our own, as well as help us find the right solutions and apply them.
Pondering what a healthy and happy life mean for you can help to build resilience in the chaotic world we live in and encourage you to live the life you want to live, which might mean abandoning the frantic rat race. Health education provides opportunities to discuss human nature, coping skills and personal resources.
Tackling Climate Change with Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Skånska Matupplevelser
An environmentally friendly lifestyle is not “just one more thing in the endless list of daily duties”, but something that helps us live a healthier life on a healthier planet.
Exercises
Write an essay about your thoughts on climate change. What kind of opinions do you have? Is your knowledge, attitudes, emotions and behaviour in line with each other or do they conflict? Do you have complex and difficult emotions? How do you cope with them? What coping mechanisms do you use or could use?
Find eco-friendly recipes online and plan in groups a 3–4 course meal. Do the recipes follow a chart that breaks down the carbon dioxide emissions represented by each ingredient? How much would the carbon footprint be of the entire meal?
Learn the basics of shoulder massage. What a great way to improve wellbeing without consuming!
Relaxation exercises can help you to improve your mood without going on a buying spree. Try YouTube and other websites by typing the keywords “relaxation” and “meditation”.
